Fire in the mountains

Fire is still raging in Sam's point ridge, I hear the helicopters which are water dropping in an effort to contain the fire.

As I look out the kitchen window,  a stream of fire fighting vehicles are  being brought up to fight the fire. The road has been busy with fire fighting vehicles being driven up and down Sam's Point Road.

Ken and I witness the  busy activities at the fire house last night. The air is a little pungent with burning trees and smoke.

I know we are safe, and I pray for the safety of the fire personnel.

I can still hear the sound of helicopters moving towards the mountain ridge as I type.  It's been three days that the mountain ridge has been burning.

Crocuses peeking out from the ground

It's the third week of April and finally the crocuses have bloomed. I can see those little purple and white flowers above ground. I had given up hope of seeing the blooms of the crocus bulbs which were planted in October.

The glory of the snow is also beginning to break out from the ground and the tulip have also started to put up the green shoots.

The garden is still a mess though with lots of fallen leaves yet to be raked.

We need a rescue, please send us someone who will help us tidy up the garden in time for summer.

Snow in April

We have had the best winter for 2015 into 2016, not much snow fall, just a dusting of snow on the grounds once or twice in the season. We are very appreciative for this warm winter.

Now in the second week of April we have had two days of heavy snow fall, snow totaling six and eight inches of snow on  the ground in two consecutive days. Yes, we had to break out the shovels which had already been stored in the garage. Shoveling snow in April, still, we feel blessed.  Rescued the  daffodils from the snow covered grounds, all the branches are now plastered in the snow.

It's still cold. Waiting for the days to warm up.
